Planet Comic Con
Wow. What a weekend. I went to Planet Comic Con in Overland Park, Kansas last weekend. My girlfriend and her two boys came along to help as I set up a table to market and get the work out about P.I.G. Tales. I was very busy talking with attendees, and drawing commission sketches for people. I have to say I really enjoyed this. By the end of the convention I could crank out a drawing quickly and with a good reasonable likeness. I drew P.I.G. Tales characters, X-Men, Sponge Bob, and even my friend; Mike Worley, who shared the table with me. I’m hopeful that there will be more successful events like this for us in the future.
There was a pretty big crowd of fans there. The walkway between tables was easily 12 feet and it was packed at the height of the convention. I got to see several local artists that I had not seen in several years. These included Barbie artist Anna Maria Cool, and Star Trek artist Rob Davis.
We conducted a raffle both days of the con in which people who signed up on our email list became registered to win a P.I.G. Tales T-shirt. The Saturday T-Shirt Winner was Amber Lawerence and the Sunday T-Shirt Winner was Trinity Weatherholt.
I prepared for the convention by reading up in the new book :” How To Make Webcomics” by webcomics masters Brad Guigar, Dave Kellett, Scott Kurtz, and Kris Straub. Also, I’ve been listening in on a Podcast on Itunes entitled : “Webcomics weekly”. This program provides some very helpful information in the area of webcomics.
I’m looking ahead to other conventions to market P.I.G. Tales. If there is one that any of you are familar with that in your opinion is a good one, please sound off and let me hear about it.
Until Next Time…..
